Martyrs of Cordoba This canvas is interesting due to its iconography, as it represents a martyr rarely depicted in art. It shows Saint Dominic in front of the tribunal that judges him. The saint is bound and in a declarative attitude, while in the background five Christians have been impaled, and another burns at a stake in front of a large crowd witnessing the cruel scene. The anonymous painter wanted to note, in an almost imperceptible text, the martyr represented, perhaps aware of its rarity.
